WHAT DO WE DO HERE ANYWAY?
Kitchen Collab is primarily a 2000 sq. ft. shared commercial kitchen space available to rent for Food Industry Professionals. We also have 1000 sq. ft. of event space, available to rent for private or public events. Sometimes we have pop-up dinners, non-profit fundraisers or parties that are open to the public.
Some examples of private events that have been hosted here in the past are: holiday parties, birthday parties, board meetings, intimate dinners and tastings. Get in touch with us about event rental here.
HOW DO I START USING YOUR KITCHEN?
In order to start cooking in our facility, you’ll need to become a Member at Kitchen Collab. The first step in the process is for you to fill out this Membership Inquiry form. Once we’ve had the chance to review your submission, we’ll reach out to discuss your food business concept further. Our available space is limited and fluctuates with the seasons, so it’s always worth reaching out to see if we’re accepting new Members at the time. It usually takes a few weeks for all the necessary pieces to come together, so give yourself plenty of time to complete the checklist below.
To become a Kitchen Collab Member, you must:
Have signed the latest Member Handbook, and Membership Terms and Conditions Agreement with Kitchen Collab.
Provide a valid copy of your Food Safety Manager Certificate.
Provide proof of liability insurance up to at least $2,000,000 with Kitchen CoLab LLC and our landlord Truckee Crossroads S.C., LP listed as additional insured, and maintain such policy for the duration of any kitchen use. We suggest FLIP insurance.
Furnish an $800 deposit.
Provide a valid State ID.
Submit a signed copy of the Nevada County Commissary Verification Form (if applicable).
Sign up for a free account at The Food Corridor, requesting Kitchen Collab as your home kitchen.
Complete the Kitchen Orientation with our Kitchen Manager.
Once those documents are on file, Members can reserve kitchen time and get cooking. All Members have access to our kitchen 24/7.
HOW MUCH DOES A MEMBERSHIP COST?
Kitchen Collab charges an hourly rate for kitchen time, which varies based on your monthly Membership level. The minimum level of Membership we offer is the Basic Level, which allows for 20 hours of kitchen time during peak hours. There is an additional monthly rate for cold, freezer, and dry storage. We also offer parking for food trucks and trailers. We offer 6-month or 12-month Membership contracts. Check out our membership page for pricing and other details.
DOES KITCHEN COLLAB HAVE ______?
Most likely! Check out our equipment list to see some of the equipment we have available for Members. We also have a large amount of smallwares: sheet pans, hotel pans, bus tubs, cambros, spatulas, spoons, scales, etc. Weekly linen/towel service is provided for use in the kitchen. Additional towels can be arranged for off-site service, such as for food trucks. For most applications, if you bring your knife kit and a sharpie, you'll be set.
If your business is dependent on specialty equipment that we do not currently have on site; feel free to reach out to see if we can accomodate your equipment, have the space to store it, and what the monthly storage costs would be. You may bring in your own specialty smallwares to store on your rental storage racks. Storage rates are à la carte and not included in monthly membership costs.
I NEED ACCESS TO YOUR KITCHEN FOR AN EVENT. CAN I RENT TIME IN YOUR KITCHEN?
Depending on your requirements, we can allow one-time use rentals at Kitchen Collab for Occasional-Use Clients. We will prioritize with scheduling for our current Members who have committed to monthly usage in our shared kitchen and have a health permit to operate out of our facility. However, if you are an established business with an existing health permit, insurance, and are Food Safety Manager certified; then we can begin to discuss our policies towards Occasional-Use Clients and see if our current kitchen availability will meet your needs. Occasional-Use Clients will be required to provide the same documents as regular Members. The hourly rate for kitchen time for Occasional-Use Clients is $38/hr. Occasional-Use Clients only have access to the kitchen during typical business hours.
